At our most recent community meeting we received a number of questions from community which we committed to answering in writing.
Here’s responses to some of those questions:
Why is GEGAC closed for 6 weeks over Christmas?
GEGAC is not closed for six weeks over Christmas.
We will have minimal staffing from December 23, 2024, to January 3, 2025, and only the public holidays are observed as closed days.
Normal operations will resume on January 6, 2025.
This arrangement ensures that our staff can have a well-deserved break and the organisation can prepare for the upcoming year, continuing to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care to our community.
Why the extra level of management?
Senior managers play a critical role in operational leadership within their respective divisions, bridging the executive leadership and the organisation’s day-to-day activities.
This management layer is not just about maintaining control but also about enhancing the effectiveness and responsiveness of the organisation to its strategic goals.
Here’s why this extra level of management is beneficial:
Strategic Implementation: Senior managers ensure that the strategic directions devised by the executive leadership are effectively implemented. This helps translate high-level goals into practical, actionable plans that teams across the organisation can execute.
Enhanced Accountability: By having senior managers, the organisation can better monitor and evaluate the performance of various divisions against the set objectives. This layer helps maintain a clear line of accountability for performance metrics, which is crucial for continuous improvement.
Operational Efficiency: Senior managers are pivotal in overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring all processes run smoothly. This management level can quickly address operational issues, streamline processes, and ensure that the organisation’s resources are used efficiently.
Future-Proofing the Organisation: With senior managers in place, the organisation can more effectively scout for future opportunities and challenges, aligning with the long-term initiatives and sustainability goals. They are vital in securing additional funding and resources to ensure financial stability and growth, which is crucial for long-term success.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement: In community-focused organisations like GEGAC, senior managers ensure services are culturally responsive and aligned with the community’s needs. They can forge stronger relationships with stakeholders, enhancing trust and support within the community.
By adding this management layer, GEGAC strengthens its operational capabilities and enhances its strategic alignment and readiness to adapt to changing community needs and external pressures.
This structure ensures that GEGAC remains robust, responsive, and resilient, prepared to serve future generations effectively.
