This Thursday, March 20, GEGAC will host a Bruthas Day Out at the Lucknow Football Club.
The day will kick off at 9:30am with a Welcome to Country and a Smoking Ceremony.
Throughout the day there will be cultural exercises, guest speakers, a good feed and interacting with Bruthas.
The day wil finish off at around 3 or 4pm.
“The goal of the day is pretty simple really – a time and place where Bruthas can get together and catch up, support each other and yarn,” said organiser Scott King, GEGAC’s Quaranook Engagement Officer.
“It’s really rare that you get men together like this, supporting one another. It’s a social event that’s not sorry business, so it will be good to see Bruthas catching up.”
There will be a number of guest speakers there including Highway Patrol Officer Ash Bowden, business and community leader Lionel Dukakis, Sherrif’s Aboriginal Liaison Officer Danielle Lowe, and Steve Tong from Latrobe Community Health.
There will be heaps of opportunities to learn from these speakers, such as job guidance and opportunities.
Bruthas Day Out is only for men above the age of 18.
You do not have to register, just show up. It is a free event, and there’ll food and drinks.
“It’s an opportunity for Bruthas from everywhere to be there and support each other,” Scott said. “You will see fellas from all over the state at this Bruthas Day Out.”
If you need transportation on the day, call or text Scotty ahead of time on 0499 834 694.
Or if you have any other questions that need answering, don’t be afraid to reach out to him.
