Funding Available for Aboriginal Language Projects

First Languages Australia is offering funding for projects to teach, document, promote and study Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander languages.

While no funding range is specified, community language teams receive between $10,000 and $25,000 per project.

This Priority Languages Support program aims to support community language teams undertaking targeted projects supporting Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander languages.

Eligible activities include the following:

  1. Document speakers of the target language.
  2. Deliver community language lessons.
  3. Develop teaching and learning resources.

Prioritised projects will commence early to mid 2025 and continue for up to 12 months.

If you would like to nominate one or more languages to be considered for this project, you must complete and submit this expression of interest by the deadline of Friday 15 November 2024.

Applicants are encouraged to read the project guidelines and look at project examples at the First Languages Australia website.

First Languages Australia must engage an incorporated organisation through a service agreement to undertake a Priority Languages Support Project.
