Kaiela Rodgers joined GEGAC last month, the third member of our new generation of Academy Trainees, along with Zac Stewart and Peter Harrison.

Kaiela is learning the ropes of a Community Engagement role, helping connect young people in community with GEGAC services and events.

She grew up around Bairnsdale and has lived here all her life.

Kaiela says she’s really enjoyed her time here at GEGAC, in the brief period that she’s been here.

Its her first time working for an Aboriginal organisation, and although it’s been different Kaiela says, “it’s great working with all of my Aunties.”

“They’re always teachings us,” she says.

Kaiela hopes her Academy Traineeship at GEGAC is a stepping stone toward a future career in physical education for kids.

Having grown up playing lots of sports herself, she says she would love to help ensure children are getting a great upbringing of physical activity and sport in their early years.

We welcome Kaiela and look forward to see the amazing stuff she will do here at GEGAC.
