“Get Involved” – We Need Community Members for New GEGAC Advisory Committees

Back in the 1960s and 70s, a proud, determined, unstoppable group of Aboriginal men and women – our Elders – fought hard to provide basic health and housing services for mob here in East Gippsland.

Ever since those early days, GEGAC has always been: by Aboriginal people, for Aboriginal people.

We are a community controlled organisation, which means that this Aboriginal community is at the heart of everything we do.

In addition to our staff and our Board of Directors, we want to create more opportunities for local mob to be involved in shaping how GEGAC serves the community.

That’s why we are creating 3 new Community Advisory Committees.

These advisory committees – made up of First Nations People from this community – will provide feedback, support and guidance for three of our key areas – Culture, Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing, and Children, Youth and Families.

We need you – young people, Elders, workers, students, Mums and Dads, all ages, all kinds of mob – to put your hand up and get involved.

These are voluntary positions, but the rewards are huge.

You’ll be making a positive difference to your community – improving our services for Aboriginal people, strengthening the organisation that was given to us by those Elders of yesterday.

We owe it to them, to keep it deadly and strong.

Go on, get involved. Fill out this form, below.
