A large outdoor deck space and an upgraded kitchen area are two of the features of the refurbished Elders and HACC Building that will reopen in the coming weeks.
The refurbishment of the Elders and HACC Building here at GEGAC is almost complete.
As many of you know, the Elders and HACC building has been closed for all of 2024 so far as local construction company Brooker Builders undertakes a thorough renovation of the building.
The new space will feature a much larger and improved kitchen area, more gathering space and areas for more activities, and a purpose-built outdoor seating area with a wooden deck.
The refurbishment was made possible by funding from Emergency Recovery Victoria.

This newly upgraded area will also double as an emergency meeting area during crises events such as bushfires and flooding, with the ability to serve as a shelter for displaced community during prolonged emergencies.
We’ve still got a lot of boxes to unpack, but the work is almost complete and we are nearly ready to open the doors for community.
We will hold an open day in September to welcome mob back into the space and show off the new facility.
Stay tuned for more info about that in the next few weeks.
