Our Plan to Nurture the Next Generation of Aboriginal Leaders

Recent GEGAC Academy Trainees Thaliah Wilson, Sharona Pearce, Kanisha Hood, Destiny Harrison and Troy Brown.

GEGAC is committed to fostering the next generation of Aboriginal leadership through comprehensive and strategic initiatives.

We aim to empower young Aboriginal staff with the necessary skills and qualifications to ascend into management and executive roles.

Here’s how we plan to achieve this:

Leadership Training Programs

We will offer tailored training programs focusing on essential management skills such as strategic planning, decision-making, and effective communication, all framed within a culturally responsive context.

Mentorship Opportunities

Seasoned leaders within GEGAC will provide mentorship, sharing their knowledge and expertise to guide young staff members through the complexities of management and executive responsibilities.

Educational Partnerships

We aim to collaborate with academic institutions to provide our staff with access to courses and workshops that lead to recognised qualifications and certificates in management and leadership.

On-the-Job Experience

We will provide young staff members with opportunities to lead projects or teams, offering them invaluable practical experience in developing their leadership skills.

Support for Continuing Education

GEGAC will support staff who wish to pursue further education related to their professional development, including assistance with tuition and flexible work arrangements.

Through these initiatives, we will ensure that young Aboriginal staff are prepared to take on leadership roles and equipped to lead with a profound understanding of cultural values and community needs.

This strategic approach will help build a robust leadership pipeline that secures GEGAC’s future and supports its strategic objectives.
