VACSAL Carnival a Big Community Effort

Last week Victoria Aboriginal Community Services Association Ltd (which we know as VACSAL) held their statewide Junior Football and Netball Carnival in Bendigo.

Once again Bairnsdale Regional Unlimited Sports (BRUS) took a bunch of junior teams to go play and represent our community and region.

We sent three football teams and four netball teams.

There was also an under 17s boys football team called the East Gippsland All Blacks.

Overall the tournament went well with a great turnout like always.

Our community did really well, with the under 9s football team making it to the grand final, but just fell short of victory.

Our other teams had done really well, with all these teams making it to the semifinals – 9s netball, 15s netball, 17s netball, 12s football and 15s football.

We also had an under 12s netball team that just fell short of finals but won 5 of their 6 games.

It’s always so great to see our Boorais getting together and playing sports.

But without the hard work that many people put in, it just wouldn’t be possible.

So, we would like to thank everyone down at VACSAL for hosting this event.

We would also like to thank BRUS for the amazing commitment they show every year to ensure that our younger mob are looked after and having a wonderful time.

And thank you to all the volunteers that helped and step up every year, from coaches to runners and even waterboys.

Whatever your role was, it is vital that we have people step up like this every year because we do have to look out for our future generations.

We also thank all parents that show up and take their children to these events time and time again!
