GEGAC is looking for young Aboriginal artists in community to design a cultural artwork to go on a basketball court.
GEGAC is partnering with Artcourts Australia to build a half-court into our new shared living development for young Aboriginal people, at 372 Main Street, Bairnsdale.
(See more info about Village 21 here: https://gegac.org.au/village-21-project/)
Artcourts has designed and built incredibly colourful and eye-catching basketball courts across the country, including in many Indigenous communities.
We want our basketball court to be unique, deadly, and, most importantly, by and for our young Aboriginal people.
And so we are seeking Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal artists aged 16 – 21 living in the Bairnsdale area.
If you’re interested, fill in your details in the form below and we’ll contact you with more info.
Selected artists will be required to attend 3 or 4 sessions in Bairnsdale, where they’ll collaborate on a design to adorn the basketball court.
This is an unpaid opportunity to do something good that will have a lasting, positive impact in this community.
We are hoping to engage an experienced artist to guide and mentor the young artists through this process.
Have a look at the photos of other Artcourts projects below to get an idea of how deadly it will look when completed!
For more information, fill in the form here and we’ll reach out to you.
